EasyEclipse IDE Distributions

EasyEclipse distributions are prepackaged releases of Eclipse that provides a fully functional Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for a specific type of development such as Java, PHP, Python or Ruby.

NOTE : Do not install EasyEclipse in a directory with a space in it since it will instantly crash !

Each distribution contains everything you need to start developing code, without any additional downloads. Note that there are two releases for some distributions:

  • EasyEclipse 1.2.2 is the previous stable release, based on Eclipse 3.2.2. All EasyEclipse plugins are working on this release.
  • EasyEclipse 1.3.1 is a new release based on Eclipse 3.3.1. Not all distributions, and not all plugins, are available yet in that release.

Application stacks include an open source application and all the dependencies necessary to run it, such as Apache, MySQL and PHP or Ruby. By the time you click 'finish', your new application will be ready to run. All stacks have been packaged using BitRock's multiplatform installer.

For example there are BitNami stacks for :

MEMSET does ruby

Not by default BUT because MEMSET use CentOS and therefore yum you can just login as root to your MEMSET VM and run:

$ yum install ruby

$ ruby –version

ruby 1.8.5 (2006-08-25) [i386-linux]

So far MEMSET is turning out to be the most flexible VPS VM webhosting solution I've ever seen !

OpenID and claimID blog identity

OpenID is an open, decentralized, free framework for user-centric digital identity.
OpenID starts with the concept that anyone can identify themselves on the Internet the same way websites do-with a URI (also called a URL or web address). Since URIs are at the very core of Web architecture, they provide a solid foundation for user-centric identity.

http://www.ohloh.net/articles/php_eats_rails "One thing that we can readily see is the increasing dominance of PHP over the last several years" or maybe it only takes 1 line of ROR to do what it takes 10 lines of PHP to do !
