Wikipedia bans editing ! Is this the end of Wiki’s ?

According this evenings TheLondonPaper Wikipedia Germany has banned "instant edits" and is only allowing "trusted editors" to make changes !

Unfortunately spammers seem to have won as I have also had to lock down both my wikis (www.fsse.info & http://www.osde.infoo) because of inappropropriate edits !
