xubuntu 10.4 is broken !

please dont waste your time trying to upgrade to xubuntu 10.4 if you have a hp compaq presario a900 because the keyboard will DIE after the first boot after install ! It took me one hour to discover this and another hour to reinstall xubuntu 9.10 to fix it !

xubuntu 9.10 is'nt perfect either but at least the keyboard works enough to let you login !

Google has finally broken !

I just used Google to search for JavaScriptWebServices and got 51,000,000 which was completely UNEXPECTED.
It seems that Google had decided to split my single 'word' search into two separate words and if i want to stop Google 'splitting' my keywords i have to enclose them in ""'s as in "JavaScriptWebServices" and only then get the < 10 results I waqs expecting !

So when did Google start arbitarily changing users queries and how can I stop them doing it again ?

TWO VOX bugs in one day !

In addition to my VOX ghost groups I have discovered VOX doesn't like spaces in photo filenames !

See http://osde-info.vox.com/library/post/google-map-widget-by-xantus.html

I also managed to get this error by open 8 posts from my library in separate tabs and trying to add them to the same group !

sometimes webpage font sizes are very tiny when you print them !

I think I've just worked out why this happens ! Maybe it's because there is no CSS at all so that firefox 2.0.0.13 uses default system font-size (14px) or the text font size (in the CSS file) has been specified in pixels (px) instead of points (pt) !

i.e.

body { font-size: 12px; }

instead of

body { font-size: 12pt; }

This seems to be the problem with the WikkaWiki CSS style sheets so i've created a ticket http://wush.net/trac/wikka/ticket/764 and fixed my own WikkaWiki sites !

Here is what print / print preview looks like before and after you've added / fixed your firefox and/or CSS !

Maybe you should wait for the next version of Ubuntu !

"For Feisty, xresprobe is not included in the default installation.

In theory, this should not be an issue for most people, however I think for people
who don't have xresprobe installed, if they reconfigure Xorg then the new xorg.conf file
could result in incomplete monitor detection, and thus lead to this bug.

This could also occur if the user installed a new monitor or video card and
re-ran `sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver- xorg` without first installing xresprobe.

It could also occur if a user upgrades from Edgy or Dapper to Feisty, and xresprobe
gets uninstalled, and then the user reconfigures xorg.

As I understand, this was a unique change for Feisty, and wouldn't affect Edgy or Dapper
users since as I understand xresprobe was installed by default in those.

For gutsy we've altered things such that xresprobe is once again installed by default,
so behavior should at least return to where it was with Edgy and Dapper.

In at least one dupe of this bug, having xresprobe present seems to have helped.

See bug 109908."
